According to the International Trade Administration, Portugal ranked 15th among the 27 EU Member States in the 2022 edition of the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI). Despite global advancements, Portugal’s relative progress is generally slightly below that of its peers, indicating that there is room for the country to accelerate its digitalization efforts (ITA, 2024).

This gap in Portugal highlights the need for greater technological integration in Portuguese factories to ensure competitiveness on the international stage. To help boost digitalization in Portuguese factories and position the country at the forefront of industrial innovation, proGrow is developing a market study with the primary goal of assessing the digital maturity level of Portuguese factories and understanding their receptiveness to digitalization.

This study also aims to identify the main barriers and facilitators in the digital transformation process, as well as map the adoption level of emerging technologies within the industrial sector. Additionally, the study seeks to explore the perceptions of managers and workers regarding the importance of digitalization, their expectations, and the expected impacts on productivity, efficiency, and shop floor competitiveness.

Based on these insights, we aim to provide strategic recommendations to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies and promote an effective digital transformation in the industrial sector.

If you work in the Portuguese industry and have experience with production processes and technology, then we need to hear your opinion!
